Geotextile

Geotextiles are widely used geotechnical materials in the construction of roads, reservoirs, tunnels, and dams. Their primary functions are separation, filtration, drainage, stabilization, and reinforcement. DOER star needles are best suited for producing high-strength geotextiles, with particularly notable results in staple fiber and spunbond geotextile production. The four-sided barbs of the star needle ensure a high entanglement rate per penetration while minimizing fiber damage.

Many types of fibers are used to produce staple fiber geotextiles, depending heavily on the specific application. Common choices include polyester, polypropylene, and nylon, with fiber fineness typically ranging from 4 to 10 denier, though some products utilize coarser fibers. The needling depth is generally 10 to 12 mm, and the needling density typically ranges from 100 to 400 punches per square centimeter. Spunbond geotextiles usually require high-speed needle punching machines running at 2,000 to 3,000 strokes per minute. Their needling density is relatively lower, with the main loom usually at 100 to 300 punches per square centimeter, and a recommended needling depth of 10 to 12 mm.
